Chan Romero Fifties Flash Back CD WR1

Chan Romero was only a youngun' when also-youngun Latino Richie Velens went to the top with his 'La Bamba' and 'Donna'. When he died in the same plane crash that also took the lives of Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper, all efforts went to have Chan take his place in the parades.

Whilst he did have some success with his first release 'Hippy Hippy Shake' especially internationally, the move had shifted a little in USA to the Italian 'Pretty boy' image sent forth by American Bandstand, that the likes of Chan couldn't match.

The Beatles recorded the song very early in their career which was recently released on their 'Definitive Collection', and a few years later the English group 'Swingin Blue Jeans' took the song to its highest point.

These tracks are the exact tracks from those early times and truly represent the many talents of Chan as a teenage songwriter. He still writes many songs, still records and still performs. He visited Australia in 1996 touring once again with Lonnie Lee &n The Leemen (he first did in 1960), and audiences loved his bluezy approach to R'n'R.
